Uluwatu - Bali

About Bali

Near to the Airport is the main shopping areas of Kuta and Legian, so if guests want to do a days shopping it would be about 45 minutes each way from Tanah at Ulus accommodation at Uluwatu.

Basically anything can be arranged in Bali - usually for a small price.

Wine & Dine

Basic Balinese food can be bought across the road from the Villa at the Gong café or alternatively a 5 star meal is available at Blue Point Bay Villa Resort nearby, or there are 3 and 4 star restaurants (nice and casual and cheap) within a 10 minute drive from the Villa.

We suggest when staying at Uluwatu accommodation guests stop at the large supermarket (15-mins. from the accommodation by car) on their way from the airport at a large supermarket which has fresh fruit and vegies, alcohol, soft drinks, sunscreen and the other usual products obtained from supermarkets. If guests are arriving late they can either arrange for supplies to be there when they arrive or organise a driver the next day to take them to the supermarket.

Surfing Bali

Surfing in the Uluwatu area is regarded as the best in Bali, but only for experienced surfers.  NB: Surfboards are not available for hire in the area so if you are keen on surfing bring your own.

Shopping in Bali

Bali offers the best shopping and prices in Asia specialising in locally made jewellery, handicrafts, antiques. artefacts and particularly for casual and tailored clothing. Leatherware is one of the local bargains with everything from handbags through to tailor-made leather jackets and coats at unbelievable prices.

Nyepi Day, (Bali New Year) Bali's Day of Silence, is perhaps the most important of the island's religious days and the prohibitions are taken seriously, particularly in villages outside of Bali's southern tourist belt.
2009 Last week in March (To be confirmed)
Hotels are exempt from Nyepi's rigorous practices but streets will be closed to both pedestrians and vehicles (except for airport shuttles or emergency vehicles) and village wardens (Pecalang) will be posted to keep people off the beach. So wherever you happen to be staying in Bali it is a good day to spend indoors.  More information on Nyepi Day can be found at Indo.com
